About

Leonardo Salcedo, also known as Babakid, is a Colombian visual artist, illustrator, and muralist with over 15 years of experience in Visual Arts, street art, muralism, art installations and illustration. His work explores the power of the line as a tool for exploration, connection, and storytelling.

Throughout his career, he has developed a distinctive visual language called Nick Trip—a freestyle, line-based approach rooted in doodle art that has evolved into its own system of symbols, characters, and narratives. This language allows his work to move fluidly between illustration, muralism, sculpture, and visual experimentation.

His artistic practice is deeply connected to place and context. Each mural or project is conceived through observation and curiosity, integrating cultural, natural, and human elements unique to the territory where the work is created. He understands public space as a living canvas and art as a bridge between people, environment, and imagination.

Leonardo has participated in urban art and graffiti festivals across South America and Southern Africa, including MAB – Museo Abierto de Bogotá, Hidroarte (Mexico City), and Maputo Street Art In mozambique, BUshfire and luju festival in Eswatini. He is currently traveling across the African continent, developing street art and visual art projects while expanding his global artistic journey.

His work reflects a constant exploration of identity, territory, and perception, positioning art as an evolving dialogue between the inner world and the surrounding environment.
